Lauren had words for days, but no melodies to put to them.
So as a result she had countless pages of text, but no real songs.
But in just a couple weeks, she strengthened her understanding of melody, specifically how to differentiate verse and chorus melodies...
And walked away with her first-ever demo.
And other finished songs to boot.
Now she's learning how to produce her songs and vocals in the second program.
Shantay had the ideas and talent, but didn’t have the process or confidence to bring her songs to the finish line.
Fast forward three months later, and she has three completed songs, with two more in the works.
As she states in this reflection, having a coach is crucial in allowing anyone to reach their goals, and by not investing, you’re actually potentially losing money, trying to do it all on your own.
It took @esmec.97 two calls before she committed to the program.
And I’m so glad she did.
It was a scary leap for her - her first real dive into songwriting, and really music in general.
But she wanted to turn those countless pages of words into songs, and that’s what she did.
She left the program with her first official demo, and a range of new skills and knowledge, all accumulated in just eight weeks.
I’m so proud of you, Esmeralda! One of the best people I know. 🙏
Dayna could hear her song ideas in her head, but she couldn’t get them out onto paper.
And that struggle led her to deciding that it was time to invest in herself and her songwriting.
In just twelve weeks time she transcribed five songs that had only existed in her head, into five tangible demos.
Because of that, she now has a clear songwriting process, as well as a working plan to get into the studio to record her first single.
Dayna expresses in this program reflection the importance of investing in coaching, by explaining the time and money-saving path that comes with entrusting a mentor in guiding you through, what can be, confusing waters.
Anthony couldn’t stop overthinking his process.
He thought he needed all of this gear, all of these skills, and whatever else.
He realized he didn’t need any of that, he just needed to write.
And write he did - he left with a collection of original songs, and will be working with a producer on his forthcoming project.
His advice to anyone feeling reluctant about investing in themselves? Do it if it’s important to you.
Luciano didn’t know where to start.
He knew he loved music, he knew he could sing, play guitar, and play piano, but he didn’t know how to put it all together so that he could write his first song, first album, and go on to get it all produced, and release-ready.
In just six weeks, he wrote his first two songs.
And by the end of the program, he had two more.
And he also found a producer, who he’ll be working with to bring his first two singles to life.
Karuna spent years making small investments in her music trying to take that step with her music and songwriting.
But as she states in this reflection, it just wasn’t panning out.
So she made the decision to really invest in herself, and enrolled in my mentorship.
She came away with two completed demos, and plans to bring one of her songs into the studio by the end of the year.
Investing in herself was a game-changer, which she shares in this reel.
So she encourages you to do the same.
Leanza came into the program with many unfinished songs, with no real plan on how to finish them.
We dove in early, and after she got clear on song structure, melody, and lyrics, she was able to come out with her first collection of songs
She’ll be taking one of her songs into the production process.
Autumn had invested a lot of money into her home studio setup.
She purchased a digital audio workstation, mics, plugins, etc.
There was just one problem.
She didn’t have the confidence to call herself a songwriter, and to actually use those investments to turn her ideas into songs.
So aside from leaving the program with three completed songs, and a plan to release an EP later this year…
She left with the confidence to officially call herself a songwriter, as she states in this reflection.
And that means everything.
I’m so proud of Autumn and all that she’s accomplished. I can’t wait for what’s next.
Anthony thought he needed a record label and business executive to get started with his songwriting and Artist journey.
When he realized he didn’t, he invested in my “Start Your Artist Journey” mentorship.
And along the way he came out with three completed songs, knowledge on how to produce his own demos, and placement with a producer.
And this is just the beginning. His newfound confidence will bring about great future achievements.
Kierra was extremely skeptical coming in to the program - she had her doubts!
But she found her groove, got comfortable within the songwriting community that we offer, and left with finished songs, and a professionally-produced demo.
Getting comfortable and confident was what it was all about, and she left with that, too!
Christina had poems for days, weeks, and years.
And she had an incredible voice to go along with them.
But what she didn’t have were melodies.
And the knowledge to bring it all together in the proper song structure.
So it was pretty simple…
We worked on constructing those melodies to fit her words, and then funneled them into complete, cohesive songs.
And now she’s on her way to the studio, with a goal to record two singles in the coming months.
As she states in this video reflection, she had a “gut feeling”, and took the leap.
And she’s so happy she did.
Aymed was a musical person, with a tremendous passion for it.
But didn’t have the tools to write songs.
So she invested in my mentorship and walked away with her first collection of original songs.
And has since enrolled in a production course to really bring it all together.
Rob, a talented producer, came into the program feeling what so many artist feel: self-doubt and impostor syndrome.
Once we figured out and acknowledged what those were, and how to deal with it all, that’s when the fun began!
Two completed songs, and the confidence and direction to explore a genre that Rob hadn’t been able to venture into in the past.
The results led to Rob’s decision to continue into the next program, where he’s now working towards the release of these songs.
Parker couldn’t write a song.
He would try, but each time he’d end up with another guitar riff, or melody idea, that went nowhere.
His inability to write a song had nothing to do with lack of talent or resources, being a gifted multi-instrumentalist and all…
But it had everything to do with being a perfectionist, and feeling that imposter syndrome.
Parker wanted to break through these blocks so that he could have an actual songwriting process. So he could actually say to himself and his friends and family, “yes, I’m a songwriter.”
And that’s exactly what he did, and has a collection of original tunes to show for it.
But he’s not done…
That next step of actually releasing your music out into the world.
Francine lives a busy life as both a teacher and musician. Making the time for her music was tough.
So she felt compelled to enroll in the “Start Your Artist Journey” mentorship, if nothing else but to generate the time and energy she needed to move forward in her musical journey.
It wasn’t about spending three hours a day on her music, it was about learning what she needed to when it came to writing songs, so that she could always progress each and every week.
The result?
Two finished songs, and a clear plan to get her single produced and released this calendar year.
“I’m not sure if I should be here.”
I’ll never forget hearing that the first session with my client and friend, Janice.
Because as she reflects in this video, she really struggled with the idea of self-worth. She felt like songwriting was not something she could do, despite having a tremendous passion for it.
And that negative self-talk kept her from writing music for years. But she knew that this program, this investment in her self, was something she had to do.
So she did.
The results in terms of songs are there, what with three completed demos that she’s now bringing into the studio.
But as she shares in this video, she left with a lot more, that extends beyond music.
Nerys had all the ideas, and even a couple of songs, but she lacked the confidence to bring it all together.
And now, her biggest transformation?
Having that confidence.
Not to mention, four completed songs that she’ll now bring into the next program, where she’ll work towards her first official single or album release.
Dezi had EVERY excuse not to do this program, with multiple demanding jobs.
But it was important enough to him that he knew he needed to make that investment, to finally turn those ideas into a FINISHED song.
And that's exactly what he did.
Beyond that, he now has a better understanding of song structure, which he can use for future songs.
Because of his growth as an artist over the last three months, he's decided to stay on, and go through the next steps of production, and eventual release.
Alex is a full-time music student, and thus had every reason to “be too busy”, when it came to songwriting, and investing in songwriting.
But improving the skill of songwriting was incredibly important, so despite being busy with school and everything else, Alex took the plunge.
The result? A new sound, improved writing style, and four completed songs.
Becoming a legitimate songwriter and artist is not something Juan WANTED to do, it’s something he NEEDED to do. There was no real choice to be made.
But with that clear passion came feelings of being overwhelmed, like there was a lot at stake, and he didn’t want to go about his journey in the wrong way.
So he quickly decided that investing in my “Start Your Artist Journey” mentorship is exactly what he needed - someone to guide him through those waters.
We set a clear goal to write four songs, and Juan was able to do exactly that, with a couple extra songs for good measure.
But most importantly he left with clarity, an understanding of who he is as an artist and songwriter, which was something that was very important to him coming into the program.
And now he has a clear production plan in place to turn those new songs into a release-ready collection.
Shannon always had a knack for writing melodies - “hooks” were never a problem.
But not having a background in music theory, as well as not playing another instrument beyond using his own voice, kept him from finishing his songs.
He had a vision though, to write an album, and finally put together all of those melodic ideas into finished songs and finalized demos.
And that’s exactly what he did.
Eight songs later, and he’s already in the process of finding a producer to bring these tunes to life, and has mapped out the launch of his Artist brand, an introduction that will be something special, for him, and everyone else.
Jon had a collection of half-finished projects.
He’d make some good headway with a song, but couldn’t bring himself to get it to the finish line.
In just 12 weeks in the program, he now has three songs that he’s pushing towards his debut EP release for spring of 2022, and he has a clear plan to do so.
He attributes his success to the program’s ability to guide him through what can be, a confusing and lonely process.
And it also helped him to eliminate a lot of the self-doubt and perfectionism that songwriters and producers all experience from time to time.
Jon is proof that even if you have all the tools when it comes to production and songwriting, it’s important to have that path so that you can get to the end and ultimately release your first album or single.
Chris, songwriter and producer, constantly found himself tweaking mixes and adding parts - he couldn’t finish his songs.
And in addition to writing songs and producing music, he was also the main point person for his band. It’s no wonder he felt the overwhelm from his sea of music.
But in just six weeks, he and his band released their debut single with a proper release plan. Now they’re taking that experience and applying it to their debut EP, set to be released in early 2022. Chris and his band now have a clear brand with a clear marketing strategy.
And to think, all this in just twelve weeks.
Connor couldn’t bring his ideas together to form an actual song. That all changed very quickly, as just six weeks in, he had two completed song demos.
And he then went on to finish two more, and make plans to record in NYC at the end of the month.
Carolyn had every excuse NOT to do this program, being a full-time student with two jobs.
She was also had issues w/ self-confidence when it came to songwriting, so she was definitely reluctant to join.
But she knew this was something that was important to her, and in just a couple of weeks, her confidence grew, and she started to churn out music.
She now has three solid songs in place with plans to go into the studio in 2022.
Dulce was told by her teachers that she "couldn't write songs" because she was "just a singer". But there was a drive and curiosity in Dulce, that called her to songwriting. So despite what falsehoods were planted in her head via her educational upbringing, she felt compelled to take action, and go for it. Overcoming the doubts and limiting beliefs, as she expresses in this reflection, was the hardest part for Dulce, but after just a few weeks, she had written her first song.
And then another.
And then another.
Now she has three finished demos of songs in both English and Spanish, and has found a producer to help her bring, what will be, her debut single to life.
Vincent struggled mightily with accountability, which brought him to sign up for my "Write Your First Album" mentorship.
He immediately started seeing results, and began to churn out song idea after song idea.
And in just twelve weeks, he left with six completed songs, placement with a producer, and new co-writing opportunities.
Kiet came to me with thoughtful plans for a concept album; a collection of songs to pay tribute to his parents, and his childhood home.
Only problem was that he couldn't finish writing it.
The weekly meetings and specific missions, as well as regular feedback that the program provides, allowed him to get focused, and suddenly the words and melodies started pouring out.
Twelve weeks later, he's finished writing the album, and has found a mix engineer to go into the next stage of production.
He encourages those to take the leap, because the program is yours, and you'll get out of it what you put in.
Simon never showed his music to anyone.
That fear of public perception kept him from writing and releasing his music.
Wanting to address the issue, he enrolled In my "Write Your First Album" mentorship, and since then, has recorded four song demos, found a producer, booked studio time, and even bought a new computer.
In this reflection, Simon talks about how the program helped him overcome these aforementioned struggles, and how coaching/mentoring has impacted all facets of his life!
Kay felt lost and directionless when it came to her music, which compelled her to sign up for my “Write Your First Album” mentorship.
In just twelve weeks, she wrote, produced, and recorded her first acoustic EP, and came up with a release plan for it.
She now has the confidence to navigate her musical journey on her own, while seeking advice from mentors, as she will be continuing forward into the next program to help her build her music brand.
Eileen was having trouble finding the structure and accountability for her music, due to her busy and demanding job, as well as whatever else life was throwing at her. By the end of the “Write Your First Album” mentorship, she completed four demos, and is now set to record those tunes with a producer in the coming weeks. Eileen credits the weekly meetings to monitor progress as a key factor in her ability to actually finish songs, to get her closer to the ultimate goal of releasing her first album.
Samantha couldn’t put her song ideas together to form a complete song, largely because she had trouble locating them, literally!
So she organized her songwriting process, learned about how to structure a song, and then she was off.
She wrote ten songs in twelve weeks, and recorded three of them in studio.
She’s now planning on releasing those songs as singles in 2022.
Samantha is proof that with just a couple of adjustments, amazing things can happen.
Danso had never invested in himself, or his music before this program. In just twelve weeks he left with multiple singles released, as well as his debut EP, under his artist name, Dan Ceso.
Quetzaly went from not being able to write a song, to writing four complete songs, one of which was completely mixed and mastered, in just twelve weeks.
Zach came in with the goal of writing an album of eight songs. He did exactly that. Additionally, going through the program allowed him to systemize his songwriting and production process, which he’ll utilize for his next release.
After less than a year of learning guitar, Yanni enrolled in my “Write Your First Album” mentorship, and wrote her first two songs in a matter of weeks.
She felt many of the typical concerns and doubts prior to taking her first shot at writing original songs, but took the plunge, and the result was a song in English, and a song in Mandarin.
Melody left the program with two demos of her original songs.
She came into the program with some self-doubt and lack of clarity behind the process of writing and releasing music.
She’s now slated and prepared to take the next step to working with a producer on these new songs.
“Working with Connor gave me the blueprint that I needed to put my musical thoughts and ideas into an actual cohesive song. Everyones creative process is different, and Connor is an expert at helping people figure out what works for them and stick to it. I can confidently say that without his guidance I would still be putting music off, collecting more half-finished songs, and feeling like "it's too late" for me to try my hand at music. The structure that Connor's program brought to someone like me was well worth the money!”
Truman B.
“Working with Connor was such a joy as well as the healthy push (kick in the bum?!) I needed to begin employing new techniques of organization and motivation in my professional/musical career. Connor and I focused on two different aspects of my professional life over the course of three sessions via Google Hangouts. The first aspect was my new business as a music teacher and freelance musician and the second, and I'd say primary focus, was building structure, goals, and strategy for my musical career as an artist. Each session built nicely into the next, connecting aspects from my personal life, preferences, and passions with useful homework assignments and research topics. I specifically enjoyed (and will continue to implement) the short term musical assignments Connor assigned after the 1st and 2nd sessions. For example, I have a proclivity towards writing slow songs, so an obvious first assignment was to write a fast song. The following assignment was writing a bass line. Not the first instrument I usually think of when I'm songwriting but that kind of creative approach to music is what I needed to spark the motivation and inspiration again. I know it's a lot of hard work to keep up with a small business and pursue an artistic career in music.”

“Connor was extraordinarily helpful in guiding me through the steps I'll need to take in order to get my freelance business up and running. He is extremely organized and ran each session smoothly via FaceTime and a shared Google Doc, which allowed me to follow along with the goals for each session as well as for the future of my business. I am particularly grateful for the expertise he shared with me as to how to best utilize each virtual marketplace platform in order to find clients and gather testimonials. I look forward to more sessions with him as my business continues to take shape. Highly recommend.” Mori, Los Angeles, CA
“I tend to be a pessimist when it comes to mentor-type services, so I didn’t expect to see many results from our work together. In just two sessions, though, my mind was changed completely. It’s clear to me that Connor cares most of all about helping his clients achieve the goals that they set for themselves. What’s more, the self-scheduling skills he’s taught me will serve me well in all facest of life, for years to come.” John, West Hartford, CT
“I came to Connor with a pretty strange predicament: this winter, my band The Cat Attic recorded our first full-length album but our plans for release were completed thrown off by the global coronavirus pandemic. I needed a lot of help rethinking my strategy around release dates, methods to promote the release in the midst of social distancing, and how to set up album release gigs in this uncertain time. In only an hour-long session, Connor helped me think through a solid game plan and connect with me a few resources that were totally new to me. I now have a revised calendar for releases and shows for the spring and summer. Additionally, I have a few pieces of 'homework'; Connor gave me plenty of ideas to run with to line up promotional support for our debut LP and to begin planning more extensive tours in the future. Perhaps the most valuable part of connecting with Connor was his though partnership. Particularly in these crazy times, it is awesome to have an objective sounding board who can draw from lived experience and offer much needed support! Richard, Boston, MA
